Practical Ways to Help
Living in Europe is not nearly as tough as living in some parts of the world. However, we do miss some American things from time to time. We enjoy receiving care packages. If you would like to minister to us in this way, here is a list of items we enjoy receiving:
Wish List:
Frito Lay Corn Chips
Packets of dry seasoning mix for chicken marinade
Cinnamon flavored “mints”
Church bulletins from your church so we know what is going on there and can pray for you—maybe the church office would e-mail them to us!
Christian books or videos—check with us to see what we’d like
Ziploc bags
Macaroni & Cheese-only send the cheese packets, we can get really cheap pasta here.
Small packets of mix for Ranch salad dressing
Cake mixes
Rice-a-Roni rice pilaf mix
Ovaltine
Gravy mix packets (chicken or turkey)
Stove Top stuffing mix
Cupcake/muffin paper "forms"
Brownie mixes
Everything, sesame or poppyseed bagels
Oreo cookies
DMC embroidery floss (check with Terri first for the colors that she needs)
#30 crochet cotton (check with Terri first to see what her needs are)
There are things listed that we can’t get here, but they would cost too much for you to ship them because of the weight. Instead, if you know someone coming through Amsterdam on business, vacation, etc. consider sending something along! Better yet come visit us and bring along an extra suitcase of goodies!
Shipping tips - important:
When filling out the customs form to mail a package, indicate that the package contains a “gift, of no commercial value”. If a package is valued at less than $25 then we will not be charged import duties on it. Anything over $25 in value costs us 19% import tax on the value plus shipping and insurance costs! It could be cheaper to ship two smaller packages than one larger one.
Fill in the sign-up form to receive one or more of our 3 regular communication tools:
- From our tulips... (a monthly e-mail update)
- If tulips could talk... (a quarterly printed prayer letter)
- The Tulip Times (a periodic e-mail update for children)
